Tom Sawyer Camp

Tom Sawyer Camps offers a wide variety of programs! From our traditional summer day camp to many year round programs, children and youth can join us for whatever interests them! Adventures on horseback, patience and precision with archery, and of course being outside, unplugged, exploring nature, making friends and being nurtured and supported by caring adults, are many of the reasons we have thousands of children joining us annually for our programs.
 
The Tom Sawyer-Becky Thatcher Day Camp is famous for its horse and swimming instruction and the good old-fashioned games, nature activities, and adventures awaiting the children every day.
 
The campers are grouped by grade into an all–boys or all–girls group of 13 led by a Senior Counselor and a Junior Counselor. Group allegiance runs high, and group rivalry is strong but friendly. With guidance from their counselors, group members select their activities. One group may favor group games and activities, another may like playing in their fort and spying on other groups, and a third group may prefer to explore the “wild uncharted wilderness areas” just steps away from civilization. Adventures, real and imagined, seem to arise spontaneously, one after another, with the aid of our highly creative staff.
 
Transportation: 
We pick up in La Cañada, Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre and the northern parts of San Gabriel (north of Longden) and Arcadia (north of Huntington), Los Feliz (at two pick-up points), La Crescenta (east of Pennsylvania Ave), Glendale (north of the 134 and east of Grandview) and Arcadia (north of Duarte) . For those campers outside our pick-up area, we have pick-up points such as Big Lots in western La Cañada, Eisenhower Park in Arcadia and San Rafael Park in Pasadena. Other spots can be arranged.
